Grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8: The Select Program is a competitive level of basketball. The WBA's teams participate in the Three Rivers League. The number of players who try out and their ability level will help determine the number of teams the WBA has in each grade, the team rosters, and the level in the league at which those teams play.

Registration: Registration opens on August 28th and ends the last night of tryouts (see below). During online registration a $25 tryout feel will be collected during registration for the Select league. This not guarantee of placement on a team, but is applied to registration fee if invited to a team. If not invited to a Select team, the tryout fee will be returned or can be applied to our Rec Program registration. After tryouts, if your child has made a team, you will receive an email asking you to accept their positon as assigned. The email will direct you to a link where you can accept the assignment and make payment at that time.

Pre-Tryout Parent Meeting: We are hosting a parent meeting to share how our Select team program works. You are strongly encouraged to come and learn abour our program and ask questions before tryouts and team selection begins.

Coaches: Our Select basketball teams are coached entirely by volunteers. All our coaches must be interviewed by our Coach Selection Committee to determine if we are a right fit for each other. If you are interested in helping us as a coach, registering is the first step. While registering on our Registration page, choose volunteer - coach on the registration form. The deadline for requesting to be a coach is September, 20, so pleaser register soon. Coaches interviews will be conducted by our Coach Selection Committee (a panel of non-board memebers) on September 26, from 6-9pm. If you have indicated your interest in coaching through our online registration, you will be contacted by email by our Select Program Director, Nicholas Emmett.

Tryouts: The tryout and team selection process is carried out entirely by the Wilsonville High School boys and girls coaching staff. Parents who do not register their child on-line must come into the building on the first tryout night to sign a release that allows their child to participate. Select players from prior seasons may not wear their old Select gear to tryouts. Any child who attends a Select tryout in Wilsonville is not eligible to attend a Select tryout in any other city (such as West Linn) and vice versa. The tryout schedule is still tentative as we work with our high school coaches to finalize times and dates. Currently the times are planned as follows

NOTE: Each player must participate in at least one tryout to be considered for a team. Attending both evenings is highly recommended. If your child cannot participate at either tryout for medical reasons, you must have a valid medical note from a doctor and contact the Select Director before tryouts to supply him/her that information. If you do not your child will not be considered for a team.

Fees: The fee for grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 is $350; grade 4 is $300 (due to less tournament play). All fees will only be collected electronically (Credit/Debit). The fee is due after the team rosters are announced (an acceptance email will be sent informing you of your child's team placement), and must be paid no later than the night of the Parents' Meeting or the player will forfeit his/her spot on the team. The fee covers all practices and league games, a uniform, and entry fees for three tournaments. Partial scholarship assistance is available, and can be discussed with the Select Director prior to the Parents' Meeting.

Post-Tryout Parents' Meeting (MANDATORY) : At least one parent, legal guardian or a representative must be in attendance at this parent meeting or your child may not be allowed to participate on a Select team. Also, all fees must be paid by this meeting or your child will forfeit there spot on their team. session The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17th, at Boeckman Creek Primary School. The schedule is as follows:

6:30pm: Doors Open
6:45pm: Parent Meeting | Discuss Select program, introduce coaches and answer questions
7:15pm: Team Meetings | Teams meet briefly with their assigned coaches
7:30pm: Uniform Sizing | Sample uniforms will be available to confirm sizes you ordered
Teams: All finalized team placements will be posted on our website by Sunday, September 30, by the end of the day.

Season:
Practices begin the week of November 7th. Games begin in early December and run though approximately March 1. Each team plays between 25 and 40 games, depending on age and the types of tournaments selected by the team's coach.
